Facilitated by The Rev. Dr. Rita Bakr
Supervisor in Training under the supervision of:
Dr. Asnel Valcin, Psy.D., BCCC, RRT Board Certified Training Supervisor
Discover the Sacred in the Human Story
Join a transformative Clinical Pastoral Education experience designed to awaken your ability to see, listen, and interpret life itself as sacred text. Inspired by Anton Boisen’s groundbreaking vision, this unit invites participants to explore how theology and psychology intertwine—how faith encounters suffering, and how crisis can reveal divine truth.
Through reflective practice, case studies, and group supervision, students will learn to:
Recognize the living human document as a revelation of God’s ongoing presence.
Integrate psychological insight with theological reflection in real pastoral encounters.
Develop deeper self-awareness as the foundation for authentic spiritual care.
Transform crisis moments into opportunities for healing and meaning-making.
Why This Unit?
Boisen once said that “the human mind is the new frontier of pastoral theology.” This unit builds on that insight—preparing chaplains, clergy, and spiritual caregivers to minister in today’s complex healthcare and community settings with both clinical skill and spiritual discernment.
Whether you are discerning your call, deepening your pastoral presence, or seeking to refine your clinical competency, this CPE unit will challenge and inspire you to read both self and other as living sacred texts.
